Pistons
Our kits use two piston types:
Wiseco® HD Severe Duty - for stock stroke builds and HORU® Spec CP Carrillo® Extreme Duty for all of our stroker builds. Both are forged from the same 2618 low silicon aluminum forgings used in extreme racing applications. Pistons built for our stroker kits utilize buttons instead of spring locks, providing additional support. These pistons integrate a gas expansion groove between the two ring grooves, allowing additional small, yet critical, volume for gas expansion.
Eagle Rods - stock crankshafts only
Eagle Specialty is the largest and most respected aftermarket connecting rod and crank manufacturer in the industry. Eagle never stops researching ways to make their products lighter, stronger and more efficient to manufacture so you get the most for your money. Made from certified 4340 chromoly steel.
HORU Rods - for all stroker crankshafts
Designed in-house and manufactured from 4340 or M300 forgings. These materials were chosen for their strength and longevity. We recommend the 4340 forgings for horsepower levels up to 1000hp and the M300 for those applications over 1000hp.
Machining
All boring, decking, and sleeve installation Are performed with a 4-axis, fully programmable CNC Boring Machine that yields unprecedented precision that far exceeds OEM tolerances. The honing is performed with a honing machine that uses special coolant as a lubricant instead of oil. The coolant is cooled as it circulates through the machine, keeping the temperatures at acceptable levels while still lubricating. This prevents overheating and warping/expansion of the honed surface/cylinder seen with oil-based honing machines, yielding enhanced precision.
Head Studs
ARP® head studs are offered as an upgrade for every short block. The studs are manufactured from ARP2000™ material and are rated at 200,000 psi tensile strength.
Our HORU® Spec ARP® 14mm head studs are designed with an increased diameter for greater holding strength and made from ARP CA625™ material rated at 260,000 - 280,000 psi tensile strength. These are the best choice for highly boosted engines pushing over 1000hp.
